Actress based in New York City

Thais Sobreira is a French-Brazilian multiracial actress and former classical ballet dancer, fluent in English, Portuguese, French, and Russian, based in New York City.

Most recently, she starred in Her Song, produced by Oscar-winning filmmaker James Ivory and written and directed by John M. Keller, in which she plays the role of Fabiola alongside a distinguished international cast including Kalki Koechlin, Zach Grenier, Éléa Clair, and Marie-Christine Adam. The film opened the 2026 Cinequest Film & Creativity Festival in San Jose, California, and was featured in Variety ahead of its world premiere.

In 2025, in New York, she joined the cast of the short play festival presented by Theatre Breaking Through Barriers, the pioneering Off-Broadway company founded in 1979 dedicated to advancing the inclusion of artists with disabilities in collaboration with artists without disabilities, where she worked with playwright Adam Linn.

Thais also appeared in The White Stuff (Chelsea Film Festival 2022), alongside Zach Grenier and Danny Bolero.

Her international work includes performances on stage as Serafina, the lead role in Tennessee Williams’ The Rose Tattoo, participation in Oscar-winning director Michael Haneke’s staging of Don Giovanni, and a role in Oscar-winning director Michel Hazanavicius’ film OSS 117: Rio Ne Répond Plus.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Thais trained at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory under Russian ballet legend Gabriela Komleva.

Thais is also a lyric soprano with classical opera-based training.
